Below is a list and descriptions of various trainings and workshops I have presented and/or have arranged to present.  If you are interested in something that is not listed below, I will be happy to work with you to develop a new curriculum.

Yoga Teacher Trainings

All teacher trainings come with a handbook which has diagrams, charts, and other appropriate learning materials.  In addition, there are places to take lots of notes.

Making Sense of the Yoga Sutras is a very practical and fun exploration of Patanjali’s yoga sutras.  This is a participative program with dyads, various meditations, asana, and pranayama. It will change your practice and your teaching.

Creative Sequencing is an exploration of the elements for a safe, meaningful and creative class, which includes warming the body up in a dynamic intelligent manner; setting a physical and spiritual theme, building a physical crescendo and decrescendo into the class, the importance of appropriate music, and creating theatre and maintaining integrity. There will be three types of yoga practices given to show three methodologies for a vinyasa class.

The Beauty and Dynamism of The Bhagavad Gita brings this ancient text to life with an emphasis on how you can then incorporate the text into your classes.  You will love the poetry and understand the pragmatism of this classic yoga text.  There will be story telling, reading of the text, asana, pranayama and meditation practices to bring greater understanding to Arjuna’s struggles and Krishna’s teachings.

Understanding Pranayama is an introduction to the breath work enumerated in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. We will explore kriyas such as kappalabhati and anuloma viloma as well as pranayamas, including kumbhakas, agni sara, ujjayi (very different from the ujjayi most are taught in the west), sitali, simhasa, bhastrika, and bhramari. We will also look at the traditional practice and use of the bhandas.

Using the Wall and Hands-On Enhancements to Assist Your Students will begin with a wall practice.  With the use of the wall, we will come to understand where we find stability, strength and stretch in each pose then we will take this information onto the mat.  While we will focus on specific poses, the idea behind this class is to notice trends within poses.  The “enhancements” are divded up into categories by how we move the spine in the poses (i.e., lateral stretches, forward bends, backward bends, twists).  We will partner up and work various “enhancements” on each other.  By the end of the workshop, participants will have a deep understanding of how to enhance not only the poses that we discussed but also poses within the same family of spinal movement.

Wall Vinyasa Mandala Yoga Workshop

With the assistance of the wall, we will move through a dynamic vinyasa practice with some inversions, lots of juicy back bending and hip opening.  You will experience how the wall not only informs the alignment of the poses and assist modifications of the poses, but it also deepens the experience within the poses.

Yin Workshop

In this yin practice, we will target the hip and shoulder girdles as well as the spine.  We will also strengthen the abdominal area. In this very slow practice, we will engage breathing techniques and guided meditations as we hold poses anywhere from 3-20 minutes.

Wall Yin/Vin class

In this workshop, we will use the wall for both a slow paced yin class as well as a quick paced vinyasa class.  The first half of this practice will be devoted to deepening the hips and opening the shoulders through long “yin” holds.  The second half of the class will be taking these deeply opened body parts through a fun vinyasa practice using the wall for inversions and strengthening.  The studio and/or the participants will determine the rigor of the vinyasa class.

Restorative Yoga Workshop

We will completely let go with the use of props in various reclining postures.  There is no muscle expenditure.  With restorative yoga, it’s all about allowing the universe to hold you so that together you can relax, heal and reinvigorate yourself.

Turbo-Charging Your Practice and Your Life with Pranayama

The workshop will explore how incorporating pranayama (breath work) and bhandas (energetic locks) can increase vitality, strength, flexibility and consciousness within and after your yoga practice.

Bringing the Bhagavad Gita to Life

Enjoy an afternoon of story telling and practice as we explore the text of the Bhagavad Gita.  You will see how Arjuna’s struggles are no different from your own and how Krishna’s teachings can be as helpful and transformative to you as they were to Arjuna.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Pada 1: What’s all this about Samadhi? Spend an afternoon learning about the first chapter of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and how it has practical application to our every day life.  In this workshop we will explore the various methods of meditation enumerated in this chapter.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Pada 2: What’s in it for me? Why bother?

Spend an afternoon exploring the second chapter of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.  In this workshop we will enjoy asana, meditation, dyads and other modalities to bring the pages of this book to life.
